Livestock Program

Sunshine Bible Academy operates one of the most distinctive agricultural programs at any private school in the nation. Managed by the SBA Foundation, our Livestock Program teaches students practical agricultural skills alongside Biblical stewardship principles — and the proceeds directly support the school’s mission.

Program Overview

Stewardship in Action: Faith Meets Agriculture

The SBA Livestock Program is managed by the SBA Foundation and directed by Dan Todd. Through this unique partnership, donors contribute quality livestock or funds for livestock purchase. The Foundation then purchases and maintains the animals, and proceeds from the sale of livestock, grains, and other tangible assets go directly to supporting Sunshine Bible Academy.

This program gives students hands-on experience in animal husbandry, land management, and agricultural economics — all taught through the lens of Biblical stewardship. Families participating in the livestock program may also be eligible for a tuition discount, making quality Christian education even more accessible.

How It Works

Three Ways the Livestock Program Serves SBA

The SBA Foundation Livestock Program creates a cycle of generosity, stewardship, and impact that benefits students, donors, and the broader SBA community.

Donate Livestock

Generous donors contribute quality livestock or funds for livestock purchase to the SBA Foundation. These gifts directly fuel the program and may qualify as a tax-deductible charitable contribution.

Stewardship Operations

The SBA Foundation purchases and maintains livestock under the direction of Livestock Program Director Dan Todd. Students gain hands-on experience in animal care, feeding, and responsible land management.

Supporting SBA

Proceeds from the sale of livestock, grains, and other tangible assets go directly to the SBA Foundation to support the school. Participating families may also receive a tuition discount, making Christian education more affordable.

Only in South Dakota

SBA is home to the only FFA chapter at a non-public school in South Dakota.

FFA & Agriscience

A One-of-a-Kind FFA Chapter at a Christian School

Sunshine Bible Academy is proud to be the only non-public school in South Dakota with an active FFA chapter. Our students compete at the district and state level in livestock judging, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics — gaining real-world skills and leadership experience that sets them apart.

Agriscience is a core part of our academic curriculum, covering animal science, plant science, agribusiness, marketing, natural resources, and meat processing. Students don’t just learn from a textbook — they work with real animals and real equipment on the SBA campus.

Whether a student plans to pursue agriculture professionally or simply wants to develop a strong work ethic and an appreciation for God’s creation, the agriscience program provides a foundation that lasts a lifetime.
